Walk: Staveley Explorer.
For: Adults of all ages, and fit families.
Duration: 6 hours.
Distance / Ascent: 14 miles/2733 ft.
Grading: Strenuous.
Description: Starting at the Plantation Bridge bus stop (bus 599 or the 555 bus and get off at the stop at Winter Lane junction 8 mins travel from Kendal). We head towards Cowan Head and then onto Potter Fell passing the 3 pools of Ghyll Pool, Potter Tarn and the lovely Gurnal Dubs. From here we then head over to the highest point of the day Brunt Knott. After our tea break we will now aim for Staveley Head Fell, then Kentmere Valley before reaching our next destination High Knott and Williamson’s monument. Now on Hugill Fell and heading through Hugill which has 9 listed buildings we look to go to our final high point of Reston Scar. After a good days walking we will now head to Staveley where you are welcome to join me for a pint in the 17th century Eagle and Child Inn before catching the train or bus back to Kendal.
