Walk: The Great River Kent North to South Trail.
For: Open to over 13’s and adults!
Duration: Up to 8 hours.
Distance / Desent: 12.5 miles / 20 km, 100 ft
Grading: Moderate.
Description: This walk is about celebrating the River Kent, Kendals' beautiful river. Starting in the upper reaches of the Kentmere Valley, we will follow as close as we can to the river bank past Kentmere Tarn, towards Staveley, Cowan Head, Bowston and then Burneside, and into the town. Although mostly flat, this is a long walk and with stops could take around 7-8 hours. We will see how early industry has shaped this river, the effects of modern life on it and (hopefully) see plenty of river wildlife and birds. We will end the walk at the new footbridge in the centre of Kendal.
Meeting Place: Kendal Leisure Centre for the minibus. No parking in Kentmere. Parking available at Kendal Leisure Centre. Parking charges apply.
