Staveley windermere and Orrest Head

Walk: Walk along the Dales Way from the village of Staveley to the renowned Orrest Head overlooking Windermere.

For: Suitable for all.

Duration: Approx. 5 hours.

Distance / Ascent: 7 miles/12 km, 1000 ft/300 m.

Grading: Moderate.

Description: Initial start will be on the 555 bus from Kendal Bus Station to Staveley. Alternatively start at Staveley Mill Yard. From there we will walk along the Dales Way meandering through gently undulating Lake District countryside as far as Heathwaite. From there we will take the path to Orrest Head, the most famous viewing point revealing the dramatic view of the whole of Windermere. Having taken time to enjoy the views we will descend to the station to pick up the bus back to the start.

Meeting Time: Sunday / 9:31am bus from Kendal Bus Station stand C or Staveley Mill Yard at 9:55am. Public car park with Pay and Display available.
